Thrifting Tips

Over break, I went thrifting with some friends. We go often, and have master it to an art. We are serious thrifters, but we have fun doing it. If you don’t know what you are doing, you can get very lost, and frustrated. When planning to go thrifting, make sure you have the following;

-Money (I know this is common sense, but make sure you bring actual paper bills. Some thrift stores don’t always take debit/credit cards)

-Tank Top (You might want to wear this when trying on clothing. You never know who was wearing it before you)

-Wear something comfy and light (It makes the trying-on process easier and faster. Also, thrift store can be claustrophobic)

-Bring a reusable bag, or wear a backpack.

-Old Clothes (Some thrift store trade in clothes.)

Thrifting can be very frustrating at times. A way to solve this is to always keep in mind, or have inspiration for what you are looking for. It is always unpredictable what you are going to find. If you have patience it is likely you will find something similar to what you are looking for, but the most exciting/fun finds, are something that is totally unrelated to what you are looking for. Some finds are also cool to up-cycle, and recreate. If often look for pieces that I will turn into a diy project.

Here are some of our finds-

  1. I love the new blog. I'll definitely use this next time I go to the Garment District (giant thrift store in Boston and a very frustrating 3 hours).
